A Dosage of Medicine(18) by Akihisa Ogino, translated by J.Kageyama
His agitated imagination began to swirl. He imagined, from his own experience, what would occur, upstairs, once Kinsaku returned. The rawness of the sight further stirred up his imagination. "Young people have it good.” Genzo felt a kind of nostalgia towards the energies of youth.
He heaved a deep sigh. Within his fantasy, the sexual instinct of youth was exaggerated. He reasoned that the sex life of those who had lost their youth somehow seemed impure, but that of the youths appeared pure, even aesthetic.
When he thought of the youthful man and woman’s encounter, after five days of separation, Genzo could not sleep. When he rolled over, another idea struck him. He could almost visualize the perversion of his son (whom he believed was over-sexed). Rather than a jealousy, transcending the father—son bond, his conviction as a protector or of the fragile girl was stronger within Genzo. Or perhaps it was both.
Genzo stiffened, for he heard the sound of a cap being thrown.
“Oh, you were home?”
“---”
"Great! I thought you might never come back. I should’ve come home sooner, then.”
